The Histories of Archaeology Research Network, HARN, was founded early in 2008 by Pamela Jane Smith, By May 2008 James Doeser, Gabriel Moshenska, Amara Thornton, Katherine Leckie, Mads Dahl Gjefsen, Mac James, Rana Daroogheh, Cesar Villalobos-Acosta, Kate Sheppard, Sara Perry, Jennifer Baird, Jennifer Bracewell, Jodi Reeves FLores, Megan Price, Lydia Carr, Julie Lawrence and Deborah Harlan had joined as founding members.
